U-Boat Attack near British Guiana

While carrying a cargo of bauxite, the SS Aneroid was struck on the starboard side by a torpedo from U-175 at 0500 EWT about 130 miles off the coast of Georgetown, British Guiana. The Ship sank at 0515.
